Every one loves biscuits. Learning to cook and bake or even working to enhance the culinary skills you already have will heighten the layers of your femininity even more. There is something so intrinsically intoxicating about baking. The slow and steady mixture of all of the ingredients. The rolling of the dough. Imagining the final taste. It gets me every time.
I would love to share one of my solid, tried and true biscuit recipes ( I have two) that will give you the fluffiest, most southern biscuits you’ve ever had. Slather on some honey or maple syrup with a side of eggs and sausage and you are living the breakfast dream. Here is the recipe for my fluffy, buttery, restaurant-style biscuits. I hope you love them as much as we do.
My Fluffy, Buttery Restaurant Style Biscuits
Ingredients:
* One cup plus one tablespoon of cold, buttermilk (if you do not have buttermilk, you can substitute whole milk with a dash of buttermilk)
*1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
*2 cups self rising flour (if you do not have self rising flour, you can add 1.5 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of fine salt to every1 cup of all-purpose flour)
*1 teaspoon of baking powder
*2 teaspoons of sugar
Instructions:
*Heat oven to 425 degrees(F)
*Add melted butter to cold buttermilk in a large cup. It will have a flaky texture. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes or so.
*In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients.
*Add butter mixture to dry mixture.
*Mix until combined. I like to use a fork. Dough will be just a bit wet.
*Knead dough a time or two on lightly floured surface. Pat dough to about 1 inch thick and cut out dough with a biscuit cutter, cup or simply with a knife (to cut them into squares). Don’t twist cutter, just cut straight down.
*Place biscuits in a greased skillet or on parchment paper, with the sides touching one another.
*Bake until golden brown. About 18-23 minutes. Watching them at the 18 minute mark is key.
*Brush with a bit of melted or softened butter.
*Enjoy!
